I love to hear stories about other people's rescue animals. It's just such a wonderful feeling knowing that birds (and other animals) in need of a home can end up in a place where they are loved and nurtured.
My brown-headed parrot is a rescue and he is a work in progress but he's come so very far in the past 4 years.
My GCC is a re-home and he came to us with a biting problem and he also hated men but we worked with him consistently and now instead of biting my husband he cuddles his ear or arm. He's a very sweet bird now and rarely bites. He developed a feather-picking problem in his first home (or possibly the pet store?) due to being caged all the time but since he's been with us it's improved so much.
Isn't it amazing how a rescue animal can really light up your life in that special way where you know you took them from a bad situation and gave them a better life? Both of my birds are like precious treasures and it blows my mind that they were "unwanted" animals (and I'm sure you feel the same about your rescues).
Also, Bobioden, I just noticed that Maxx has a green "Happy Hut" in his cage. My GCC has the same one! He loves to sleep in it. Is that where Maxx sleeps, too?
