For those who doesnt know albifrons albifrons is the white fronted amazon.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White-fronted_Amazon

Stitch is a albifrons nana, which is a subspecies of albifrons. They are slightly smaller than the already small albifrons albifrons.

But why would you want a hybrid?

EDIT:
added a wikipedia link =)

A fun thing about white fronted amazons is that you can tell males from females, its one of only three species of amazons where this is possible!

An even more odd fact is that Stitch lacks the red shoulders (alula) which is the sign that the parrot is a male, which would point to him being female.
However, I have a DNA-test stating otherwise ^^, he is one unique bird, I havnt heard of this anywhere else with white fronts.

What are the other 2 species of amazons you can tell their gender and how . also your saying white front males have red shoulders[most of the time] thats how you know their male?

Hello everybody!!! thanks for all replies, my interest is because i have two amazona albifrons, male and female, and i think they are going to mate, and maybe breed, but i suspect (from their sizes) they are from two different subspecies, the male: A.a. nana, and the female A.a. saltuensis, that´s because i want to get information, for your tranquility Ann, i am not looking for make hybrids, i just want to get information about the breed for a couple of same species, that´s for sure. I apreciate the love for parrots and the kindness from all of you in your answers! :)
