Guys I am really sorry but I need your views about this ASAP

The breeder I am buying the bird from doesnt have a less than 5 month bird that I want . . a GCC .

My options are . . .
GCC
Blue IRN
Jenday conure

I am going to get a IRN if only he lets me scratch his head . . I figured out talking is just a luxury . . I want some one who loves to cuddle.

Now the breeder doesnt have a GCC but he's getting one after 3 months . . [I want to buy a bird from this guy only as he was very frank and gave me all details and wasnt like "trying to sell a bird" kinda breeder.]

So I am confused should I wait or get a Jenday ?

Now my opinion of a Sun Conure is LOUD.
So as they look similar . . is the Jenday also LOUD ?

[Keeping in mind i will be able to spend atleast 3 hrs [3 perfect hrs] and more than 6 hrs [while I do my hw nd other stuff I will keep him outside near me]]

So what should I go for ?
Are GCC and Jenday almost similar ? [btw i loved Jenday's colour over GCC]
Also if the IRN lets me cuddle him I am going to buy him so will I make a mistake over the Jenday [coz Jenday's talk too and I am fine with the muffy tone ]

Reply soon as I am going to the breeder's place this SUNDAY !!

I think you should seriously slow down.

Do not buy a bird this sunday, just go there and visit the breeder and experience how the birds are.
From reading this thread, and I mean no disrespect, you are very ill-prepared to take home a parrot. I would suggest you do a lot more research before actually buying one. Perhaps start by reading Michael's articles?

This is an example of what I wrote above, if you had done any research at all you would know that its all down to the birds specific personality, they are individuals just as us.

Please, for the sake of your future bird and yourself, slow down and do more research before getting a parrot!

EDIT:
Also, dont leave this forum just because someone doesnt agree with you. We've seen that a couple of times lately and it doesnt help anyone, least of all you and your bird. As long as everything is kept at a mature level of discussion, its better to talk, ask questions, and debate.
Leaving doesnt help at all.

I agree you really need to slow down. A parrot isn't an impulse buy like a dog or cat sometimes is. These animals require major commitment. You said you had homework, how old are you? Do you realize a parrot can live 40 or more years depending on the species?

You will need to provide a big cage, toys need to be replaced and rotated often, you need to buy pellets as well as provide fresh vegetables and fruit daily (and also know which ones are harmful).

An IRN is a difficult bird. They often go through a "bluffing" phase after they are weaned where they bite..A LOT, you need to know how to deal with that or else the bluffing stage will last into adulthood. Also, they really are not known to be cuddly birds. They are extremely intelligent, but for the most part are pretty hands off, and not to mention loud. There is always an exception because it goes by the birds personality, but this is usually the general rule.

A GCC is an easier bird but make no mistake they still need a lot of space, time out of the cage, a lot of toys, and a good diet like I mentioned above. They are smart and cuddly birds, and very quiet but they can also be nippy and stubborn.

Forget the Jenday is noise is a factor for you at all, the conures from the aratinga family are extremely loud (Jendays, suns, blue crowns, nanday, etc). My friend can hear hers a street away when it really gets started.

If you HAVE to have a bird I would wait for the GCC, and while you wait do all the research you can. Learn about the cons of having a parrot, not just the pros. A parrot can be a rewarding experience, but you really have to be prepared and know what you are doing. This isn't a decision to go into lightly, the average parrot has 5 different homes in its life because its owners are ill prepared, or it out lives its owners.

Please think some more, and learn more. :-)

Also, you mentioned getting an IRN if it lets you scratch its head, please remember that a BABY parrot is much different from an adult parrot.

Thanks for your concern.

I wasnt going to buy one . . I just wanted to know your opinions before I go to the breeder's place.

Also I think as you said I will wait till I get a GCC and learn more about them . . .

Thanks a lot !

You're welcome :-) please stick around though, I'm sure you will have a lot of questions when you finally do get your baby GCC. This is a great community :-)

Here is a good website about the GCC http://gcch.tripod.com/faq.html
Also, the GCC isn't usually a good talker, but most learn a few words. My GCC that passed away, Furbie, had a pretty extensive vocabulary for a Green Cheek, and my new GCC, Chubby, has already said his first word. I think talking to them a lot helps, but it is no guarantee :-)
