Just want to point out that the parrot you're actually referring to is a GCC (green cheek conure). Yellow sided is only a color mutation. So if no one else offers any information here, you might have some luck with google?

But from what I can understand, GCCs are smaller than suns, and slightly smaller than a cockatiel.
They are quiet(er than other parrots) and are typically easy to care for. That makes them great apartment birds. They can be nippy, yet most are cuddly. I've even heard them compared to cockatoos in terms of cuddlieness.

I've heard this phrase so much that it's become cliche:
"They are small birds with big bird attitude"

Everything the previous poster said.

They are cuddly beyond belief, they need to be taught independance sometimes as all they want is their owners attention. They are more than intelligent enough to ''train'' their owner if they aren't careful............
They are a joy to have but very demanding, if you get them don't give the more attention than you can realistically give them for the rest of their lives because they WILL expect it as the normal and will get stressed if it suddenly changes. They can (most but not all will) also go through nippy stages which will develop into biting problem if encourage inadvertantly.

I don't have a pair but I imagine it may be a bit easier on you if you get two as they will have each other to interact with as well. It does of course mean double the training as you will need to spend time with both of them and one on one if possible. They are definitely quiet as birds go and not big chewers either so they probably won't destroy your furniture lol.

If you can get same sex if you are keeping them together in the same cage (not essential but makes your life easier), if not make sure you know exactly how to discourage them from breeding and be prepared to replace any eggs laid with fakes or prick the shells.

Loads of people on here with them who can add alot more to what I already put.

I saw a little green cheek at PetCo (I know, I know, not a good place to buy a bird, I was just there for a friend who was getting rabbit food) and I nearly brought him home. He came right over to the edge of the cage and definitely wanted to play. Cutest little bugger I'd ever seen!

here is my yellow sided conure story
I had lost a bird we had for about 15 years, a red-rumped parakeet female. in the time before we lost that bird(to liver disease, vet suspected) my wife had gotten a parrotlet, so when I was ready for another bird, I was looking in that direction. I was also thinking lovebirds, but I had heard there were aggression issues with other birds in the house

We stopped by our bird store, the owner suggested I take a look at the yellow sided conure, and I got "claimed" he climbed straight up my arm, snuggled into the back of my neck and started playing with the tails of my doo-rag

he wiped out a chunk of our savings, and I regret nothing; he's my little buddy and loves to do everything with me

there is a chewing issue. my phone headset and computer headphones are ragged and shredded due to the attentions of his beak, but that is a tiny price to pay for such a loving bird

I have 2 green cheek conures (a turquoise and a pineapple) and love them. They are very affectionate and the best little acrobats I've ever seen. Mine love hanging toys with bells and they treat me to aerial displays like a Cirque du Soleil performance every single day. They are very quiet in comparison to the Quaker that I had and much quieter than my Amazon. In fact, they make very cheerful chirping sounds that are happy sounds that shouldn't bother anyone. I'm a very enthusiastic supporter of all of color varieties of the green cheek conure! They really are a lot of bird in a very small package. Best of luck.
