Pros and cons of A Senegal parrot

What are the pros and cons of owning a Senegal parrot compared to other PARROTS. So please don't list pros and cons that all parrots have the same such as biting . But if a parrot is less bitty then it can be a pro. But below the pros and cons you can list issues of all parrots if they are similar.

Basically what I want answered is why a Senegal parrot over other parrots? What sets sets a Senegal apart from the rest.

Well the breeder I also got Ollie off of breeds sennies, greys, green cheek conures and quakers says they can go through a nippy stage like the green cheeks and quakers do.

Really if biting is such an issue for you I wouldn't bother. Any bird can be trained to bite. Any bird can be trained to lessen the risk of a bite.

Also I prefer him to not be much of a biter and I do prefer he talks

since when does having preferences mean that it will be an issue for me if the preferences arent met? Thus i said "also" as in just an additional bonus if he talks or bites LESS. I train mma, so i bleed all the time so it wont be a problem if i get bit once in awhile. But i dont think there is ANYONE on this forum who wont think that biting less is a bonus.if there is someone who thinks biting less is a con then let me know.

Its like saying a golden retriever makes a better pet than a pit bull. Guess which breed fails temperment tests more? Suprisingly it isn't the pit bull.......

All birds are individuals and almost all problem behaviours are influenced by the owner and upbringing. Thats not to say you should get any bird you fancy though. Try to forget your own wants and focus on if you can give an intelligent species what it needs.

My reservation is that you said that budgies just don't do it for you. The fact is that if you're not getting most of what you'd want in a budgie, you are as likely if not more likely not to get it out of any other parrot. They are intelligent/capable birds. If someone fails with a budgie, there is very slim chance they'd do any better with another parrot. Then both the budgie and the other parrot would end up being rehomed or rescued...

It's easy for owners to talk about their desires but it often takes someone else to point out the needs of the parrot.

I love my budgie forrest. Why would I rehome him? I just wanted to finally own a bigger bird since I only owned budgies. Would you rather have the regular people who doesnt do any research to own a parrot then someone researching everyday for months? I am sure that it's the people who aren't in sites like this who will abandon there birds cause of them not meeting expectations.

Hi Nir,I know you have read my posts ,I tried to give you an idea of what my different species are like from mannerisms,talking and nipping.I think alot of people on this board just want whats best for parrots and feel protective of them.There just giving you experiences [like Penny and Mya that they feel strongly about].I understand what your saying your ready for your next bird and want to do the right thing.I dont think anyones going to say a senegal [they might ] Is hands down the best one[because we feel that way about all our birds ] But you sound excited about the species[Ive been there] just do what your supposed to with them Take note though I would say theres alot of people on here that have greencheeks [I so love scrubby ] and senegals more than other species,and there must a positive reason for this.
