Are macaws cuddly birds?

I just want to point out (again) that I'm not even /considering/ buying one, I just wanted someone else with experience to answer- are macaws really cuddly? Do you have any experience with a macaw that /didn't/ like a human's touch? Was that due to it's past? It's genetics?

i've never had 1 personally but i have met a couple through friends that are very sweet.i also get videos sent to me of them cuddling with their people and being held by small children at bird shows. i did consider getting one but my house is too small to allow them flight.

Yes,Yes Yes Mines in my arms right now Shes always been like this.I think as long as their hand raised and conistantly handled.They all have this potential.I would have alot more The other macaws I know are great a GW and 3 Blue and golds.Females might be easier to contend with in hormonal time.I hope everyone gets to experience a Macaw in their lifetime[It might be your favorite bird ]

Wow they always have intimidated me, even though they are gorgeous. I saw one up close recently and I had forgotten how massive they are.

A bird can be cuddly without being hand reared. Rambo and Myrtle are both snuggle bunnies - just with different people. Rambo only snuggles with Rachel. If she is away for a week or so he will come to me. Myrtle only snuggles with my mom and me. Even if I am away she will not go to Rachel.

All of the cockatiels were raised the same way but only two want to snuggle.

From general research and ect. I'd say they are, and I got to meet and handle a couple recently, it was crazy how cuddly they were.

I got a 7 yr old Blue and gold macaw named biggles 12 days ago from a rescue centre paid 800 for him im over the moon with him you would not believe how gentle he is he puts his head on my cheek and purs like a cat and kisses my lips are sore lol I have never meet a macaw so great as biggles considering everything he's been through he still loves humans I've got a friend for life and love it and love him
