It looks a bit like Harlie but the front of his head is bright yellow and the back of his head is white.

Go to flickr. Rightclick on the picture on flickr and select "view picture". Then rightclick the pic and select "copy picture URL". Then come back here, start writing a post and paste that URL between your-url-here.

How young? Apparently pearls are gender recessive, they look similar until the first moult. I did not know this and thought my female was a male as she had the classic male bright face and no feather barring on her tail. I knew no different until she laid eggs as I've never really been into genetics, at which point Harley became Harlie.....
Apparently the males will lose the majority of their pearl markings at moult.
Pearl refers to small circularish shapes whereas pied refers to patches of colour.

Another thing with most pearls are they seem to have a much more dense feather covering than normal greys and other mutations. I got a bit worried for a time that some of her feathers seemed quite long and had a slight curl to the longer ones but this is apparently normal too .

Funny you should say that about the back of his head, Harlie has a smaller patch of white on the back of her head which I thought was fairly unique.

Anyway I'm waffling, I think you have a yellowfaced, pearl-pied but I'm no expert at all.

He haven't got his first moult, so I'll just wait. I hope its a male, cause poeple say they are better in mimicing. But look at this vid I saw, she's really amazing: http://o-o---preferred---google-anr2--- ... d8ea788285

Aw I'm sure s/he will be loved regardless. Hopefully you won't have too long to wait to know for sure.

Harlie is very good at mimicking noises, she wolf whistles like a pro, beeps like the microwave and has almost got the sound of the phone down too. I think in a few more months we wont know if the phone is ringing or the bird!! She doesn't talk though but I've never really tried to teach speech.
