Rokin'Rats wrote:Okay I get everyone's point. I am curently caring for two lizards, two rats(My little babies :D !), and three fish! Plus i take half of the responsibility of my little brother's pets(gerbil, hamster). And in my opinion when your a kid is a great time to have a pet(or many). It teaches you to have responsibility, and when you don't have any friends like me my rats are always listen. So anyway, thanks marie83, Elizebird. And Please don't automatically think I have never had a pet, Thank you.

i think you should definitely socialize and make friends.. Being a loner is just not healthy. Make some friends and then if you still want a bird then go ahead.

ok, sorry nir for bringing this up again, but urgh! i really don't like it when people say that it's not healthy, or it's sad, to be alone, and to not have friends for whatever reason. Rockin' Rats, i am also eleven, and i have ONE friend that lives a ferry ride away. and like you, animals are my friends. AND I LOVE IT.

but to answer your original question, i do not think that a senegal would be a good pet for someone our age (i researched them thinking they were ;) ). many people on here can tell you that senegals can be very aggressive. ask Micheal, he knows.
but if you really like birds and want to be around them, try volunteering at a parrot rescue.

i hope i helped! and i apolagize for my little rant up there

It's not to offend. You are only eleven. After another 15 years, you will surely have friends with common interests such as birds. You will also have associates that you just know. I really get frustrated when parents act like its ok for their kid to not be social and not make friends or care to. That is not good or is it healthy and I will always stick by it even if it ticks people off.

it really tics me off. sorry. but i get where you're coming from.
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands.
