I can't really answer those questions. My Senegal is the one that aggresses but the Cape can be asking for it sometimes. The other questions I can't really answer.

Well, I visited the breeder last weekend and my boyfriend and I decided that we are going to get the bird.
The breeder took the 2 babys away form their parents last weekend and got them DNA tested this week so I'm getting the results this or next week. He thinks it's a boy and a girl. He already had someone who only wanted to have a girl so automatically I'll get the boy because I dont really have a preference.
They are totally parent raised and they are not handled by humans at all.
They are now 4 months old and he is going to live with us on January 23th next year because I'm going on vacation on the 29th of december and I dont want him being in an whole new environment, getting used to us and than we leave for 3 weeks. I dont think thats fair for him so I asked the breeder if he could stay with him a little while longer. So he will be almost 6 months when he comes to live with us.
I'm really exited, cant wait for my new bird and the new challege that comes with a parent raised bird. This week I'm going to buy his new cage and some new toys and make everything okay for when he comes. Now I have to find a name, my 2 eclectus parrots names are Phoenix and Phantom so I want an original name. I'm thinking about Ganon (short for Ganondorf), Link or Imp from the game: Legend of Zelda. If it turns out to be a girl than it will be Zelda :D
If someone has a cool name suggestion, I'd love to hear them!
My other 2 parrots are clipped but I think that I'm going to keep my Cape flighted.

Whats your reasoning behind letting one parrot be flighted Marsha?

I wont jump into the whole debate with clipped/flighted, but dont you think it will be very akward to have one parrot which can be a bird and fly, whilst the others are not? I think there will be a lot of agression issues due to jealousy between your guys, and I know you dont want that?

Why not take the opportunity to let your beautiful eclectuses regain flight as well =)?

cml you are so right  my :corella: was clipped before i adopted her and she would constanly try to attack my :gcc: who was already flighted. now that both are flighted i can have both on me at the same time.i feel like it's even more cruel to the birds you already have to show them what they are missing.

I think a baby Cape is less likely to cause trouble by being flighted. As long as the other birds will eventually gain flight, should be fine.

Well, I'm letting their feathers grow out already but I can't just snap my fingers and make them flighted again, now can I?
So, what, I should just clip my Cape also just because the others arent flighted? And when my Eclectus have their feathers back, He'll be the one without flight.
I have to start somewhere because else I'll be trapped in an endless circle of clipped and unclipped parrots so to speak.
Another reason is that eventually I want to breed with my Capes and its very important he knows how to fly. Next year I'm also getting a girl Cape and when the time (about 5 year or so) is right they can breed, or not, that's really up to them.

This will be his cage, I ordered it yesterday:

I'm getting the white version.

@Michael: Does Truman chew alot? My eclectus have wooden toys and stuff but after two years pretty much everything is still intact. How about Capes?

I think you misunderstood me, if you are letting their feathers grow, you are doing everything you can and it will probably be alright :D.
Maybe it was me misreading your post, because I took it like you were keeping your elecs clipped, it didnt say anywhere that you are letting their feathers grow back. I think its self-explanatory that you shouldnt keep your new guy from flying if thats the case :).

Again, I think you misunderstood what I was trying to say, despite the fact that I worded my response quite carefully :(.

No, I did not say I was letting them growing their feathers back out so that's my fault, but u just assumed I was keeping my Eclectus clipped.
Well, no big deal, we both clarified our posts so it's all clear and good now. ;)

I love them too! I am 25 years old and the first Zelda game was launed 25 years ago so I grew up playing every Zelda game. I actually got the name Phantom from the Phantom Hourglass!
Navi is a bit to girly for a boy and Ghirahim sounds kinda dumb in Dutch (I'm Dutch ;)) Plus, I think Ghirahim is wayyyyyy to creepy to give my new parrot that name haha.
But I do like Majora, Skull Kid, Valoo (the dragon from windwaker), Sheik and Vaati. but i'm not sure yet.
