Oh I was referring to emotional wellbeing and ideas on life and relationships with people, not parrots! My interest in critters has hardly waned, maybe gotten stronger because I know i can take care of them now.

ohhh that makes much more sense!

once you love birds or pets of any kind, you will ALWAYS love them in my opinion. It never really goes away so dont worry about that.

i totally get that. a few years ago i got a Russian tortoise. it didn't work out but every time i see something turtle/tortoise related i still smile and have to look at it!

and i will definitely be sticking around! i am so glad i found this forum, all of you have been so helpful!

If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands.

I'd go with a Pionus they are great for pets but such a gorgous bird.

hi all!

ok. so i pretty much desided that i will hold off on getting a parrot until i am done with whatever school i am going to ( ;) ), have moved out, and am living on my own stably.
in the mean time i will volunteer at a rescue or some place where i can interact with birds without bring one in to a situation where many things could change at any given time.
i will still continue researching and will stick around the forum!
thanks
