Does your senegal scream while flying?

Almost daily, when I let my female senegal out of her cage, she'll take some flights around the room all the while screeching like a maniac. I wondered about this behavior and whether I was the only one with a senegal that thinks she's a cockatoo until I read that Mona in Seattle has a senegal that does the same thing.

It's certainly a release of energy on her part and I suspect if she were not allowed to fly that she'd act out in negative ways like biting or plucking or other undesireable behaviors.

Are there any others whose parrots concurrently fly and scream with delight ?

i don't have a but my does this after he's been in his outdoor cage. so you're probably right about it being excess energy since he's normally free to fly around the house all day but his outdoor cage doesn't give him much room to fly.

Well I dont have a senegal but none of mine do it, sounds like yours is thoroughly enjoying the time out to me

My amazon screams when flying in two scenarios one is startled/scared the other one is overly excited. As when he has sittin on the training perch for a while and I just wanted to complete an email or something before starting a session then when I finally get up he starts dancing around and if the first thing i do is a recall then he will scream on his way to my hand, don't really want him overly excited to that point on my hand so I've learnt to ask for something else first letting the innitial excitement cool off. He also screams when he flies if he has figured I've dropped a favorite treat somewhere and he flies there to get it.

Myrtle does more like a wild parrot call. She does this going through doorways like she is warning me to get out of her way.
