There you go. Just in concept. I won't deny that if you upgrade to a bigger (and bird safe) apartment, that you're all in it. You don't have to spend 2000 a month to get something reasonable that would work. You either want a 15x20 (or bigger) single room loft (or with additional smaller rooms) or to have 2 rooms. By having a separate room for birds it solves many of the behavioral issues and allows for separation of birds during out time. The simple fact is you do not need an entire house, just a larger apartment.

Or this. http://www.nakedapartments.com/rental/1 ... ensonhurst

Just basic ideas and price ranges. Details are entirely up to you.

$3k/month for a small apartment?!!! Wow....thats insane. I know its NYC but.......anyhow :senegal: need room to fly and it appears your current scenario isnt conducive. You say you work from home. Why not take that monthly $ and move out of the city and buy a nice home where your future :senegal: will have lots of space and so will YOU?

it says :

Bedroom size is 12 X 11 ft
Living Room size is 14 X 15 ft

how is that bigger then the place i have... Also its 1 bedroom and will definitely need 2 bedrooms and bensonhurst is kinda far from everything . But most importantly the place is small..

the 2nd link doesnt show the dimensions but from the looks of it , that room will have the kitchen means there will be other things like dining table in that room so it wont work either. I think the idle apt needs to have a huge living room and thats the only way it will work..Also kitchen isnt exactly the safest place to have a flying bid.

ya its divided in 3. so its not as bad as it sounds. Also the area is close to the city so not in the city. IF it was in the city, a 3 bedroom would run you roughly 5k in any decent area. 1 bedroom normally goes for 2500 in the city. I dont think you seem to understand how expensive realestate is. For the money you spend, its crap. Houses will be SMALL unless you cough up a good amount and also inconvenient yourself by getting the place far away from the city and everything else. I have major responsibilities not only for me but for my mom/family house which i also take care of so i would have to be close enough to them as well as close enough to the city. So finding a middle ground is hard since it is very very expensive. Trust me i would love to have my own place thats big enough for me my sennie and my future family but for the time being, it just isnt possible without making a major move elsewhere cheaper. Only middle ground is perhaps finding a bigger apt in a not so great neighborhood further from the city. Will look into that. But sigh... shall continue being stressed. Also... the apt is not small to live in. But probably small for a flighted sennie but it would be great if mike can come by to confirm it.

When I had just Kili, I kept her cage in the center of a 5x8ft rug. That is the basic reasonable footprint for a parrot cage. I consolidated later by having Truman's cage up against Kili's in the same space. But this is how far stuff gets flung from the cage. From the situation you barely have physical room for the cage dimension itself let alone the actual footprint of the bird affected area. Don't get misled by the size of the bird, they live a pretty big life.

I own my own home so I do "understand how expensive real estate is" but I am not from NYC hence why I was a bit shocked. But please note I mis-read your original message and believed you were paying $3K for an appartment. Your life, so ultimately your decision on whether you want to move and where. Maybe you have siblings/other relatives that can also assist with your moms house some of the time to ease your burden and make moving less stressful?

All the best.

Looks like i have to wait longer. i called couple of the closest (all about 2 hours away) bird stores and breeders and none have senegals or jardines to check out. So will have to wait till they get the batch later next year... a well.

interesting that 1 of the place i called to ask smoe questions, the guy said he thinks that "meyers and jardines" are more troublesome when they get older. Apparently they got a bigger chance for a 1 person bird after they mature and are less of family birds then sennies. Man that kinda makes me think they are just trying to sell birds and are lying to get me to buy what they want me to buy. I ACTUALLY loved that bird store last time i went there since the guy i was speaking to was very informative and friendly and everything he said was accurate from what i know.

but anyway.. looks like i gotta wait longer.

wayne:

already have a sister who is assisting me but regardless, moving away from my responsibilities at home is not an option. Thats 1 of my main priorities. realistically, moving will be near impossible since i am on a yearly contract with my current apartment and even then like i said, finding a place bigger then what i have is going to be very hard. If i cant have him flighted so be it. This is ultimately my decision and i will make decisions as i go forward. It will roughly take him a year (just a guess) for his wings to grow back and by that time i will reevaluate if i want him flighted or not depending on how he is doing in my apartment. If he is flying fine and isnt bothered then i will keep him flighted. if not then i will have him trimmed.

Anyone else here have a flighted sennie in a apartment that doesnt fullfill michaels requirement and made it work?

anyone else have a non flighted (trimmed sennie) sennie that didnt become a viscious biter?

I will still do everything i can to make sure he stays flighted since i dont believe in clipping.
