Nir, I'm going to stay out of the room size issue because I haven't got a clue but I do believe birds are meant to fly and it is cruelty to keep one in a situation where it cannot fly well or at all because of a lack of space or through clipping.

What I wanted to say is that if you dont believe in clipping then please please find a breeder who does not clip, babies need to fledge properly and breeders will only stop clipping their babies if the demand for clipped birds drop. If people want flighted birds, that is what the breeders will sell.
I think its a responsibility to stand up for what you belive in, you wouldn't believe in god and then worship the devil.

well i dont believe in clipping but from the breeders point of view where they are probably responsible for dozens and dozens of birds, i can see how having 50 flighted birds might not be the safest thing to do therefore they clip to manage the birds better. I think my place is big enough for my sennie to stay flighted and be happy. Might not be idle but with my ceiling being as high as it is (over 20 feet) i think its not as bad as it sounds. but again i will reevaluate once his wings grows back.

No it is just laziness. Some breeders manage just fine with loads of flighted birds and thats including keeping them in the house. Very very few breeders clip in the UK, if the breeder doesn't have time to deal with the welfare of the birds then the breeder has too many birds.

Oh and I have to defend Michael- he has openly admitted he didn't know enough about parrots before taking on Kili. He has however learned very very fast and become something of an expoert on parrots. Yes he bought a clipped bird but he went out of his way to ensure that he didn't buy a second clipped bird.

People are allowed to make mistakes and the world would be a much much better place if other people learned from shared experiences. There are people on here with alot of knowledge and I cannot understand why you are fighting them all the time. Asking people to explain their reasoning is a good thing but you seem to be actively fighting to justify what you wanted all along.

I made the same mistake and bought from some sweet breeder lady who had cockatiels when i was much younger. Even then i let my parrot grow it's wings out because it seemed cruel. at least i did that. I feel very guilty about many things i did wrong then. I remember reading the cockatiel book about care. Parrot care just want the same.... Being ignorant isn't an excuse but it's okay. We do all make mistakes. But once you have enlightened yourself i think it's generally a good idea to try your hardest to do the right thing, if possible.

One question. If I find a breeder that will not clip my bird, how do I train him? Wouldn't it be hard to tame him if he is fighter from the start. My budgie was clipped but that time frame allowed him to get tame. It would be hard to tame him if he was flighted from the start.

I am going to be visiting birds by joe this week. they seem like an ethical bird store/breeder. They happen to have 3 sennies right now.

There are *tons* of birds who need help and new homes. Senegals are NOT rare.
There is bound to be at least a few.

Particularly in a large city centre like nyc.

i mentioned before that i do not feel comfortable getting birds off craigs list since i dont trust their judgements. They might lie to me just to get rid of their bird. Rescues i am all down to check out and i believe i did find 1 rescue which is couple hours away and i emailed them already. if i dont get a response then i will call them this week and check them out. But i am not going to get birds off of craigs list.

ok I'll just post something on the Taming you asked for. No I do not consider it to be harder to tame a flighted bird, it is however harder to flood it. otherwise It would logically be easier to properly tame the flighted one since its confidence is better meanign it will be slightly less scared of you to begin with.

That's the lamest excuse I've ever heard. Parrots have different personalities. That's why you met the parrot and see how it interacts with you and its health.
