Anyone own a jardine Parrot?

Postby Nir » Sat Oct 06, 2012 2:30 am

Well i am having 2nd thoughts AGAIN because of the other thread, i figured i would continue researching mean while. Anyone have any experience with jardines? can you share your experience with him and how were their personality? Also is there a difference between lesser and greater jardine in terms of looks/size or personality? And how much bigger are the compared to senegal ? Are the same size as a cape? Anyone have a picture of a sennie and a jardine for visual reference on the size. Couldnt find any through google. videos would be great as well.

Jardines are bigger than sennies from what I remember. If it is space that will be the issue, which it seems to be from the other post, then your going do better with a smaller bird rather than a larger or similar sized one tbh. Maybe reconsider a conure but they are fairly active birds so space may still be an issue.

even if their more active and you prefer same if not more space they might be able to make a tighter 360 flyby (wich is basically what you definitly want in concerns of flightspace, the ability to fly nonstop for as long as you like, and not having to fly to one end land, turn around, fly to the other end and then having todo that for excersise. No experience with jardines, so sorry can't help you there.

Hi there. I have 2 Jardines and I have just joined this forum. My first parrot was a senegal - who was accidentally lost to me. Louis was an amazingly lovely little bird and I couldn't believe what a gap was in my life when he went. It was a year or so later before I got my second bird - a Jardines - and that was 16 years ago. I promised myself that if I ever got a second parrot I a) would never sell it. b) I would make sure I found it a 'friend', so it would not spend its entire life believing it was the only one in the world. and c) I would build 'them' the aviary/home of their dreams. . . . . a couple of years ago I got my second Jardines (who was around 4/6 years old) and now all I have to do is build them their dream home :)
