Lovebird choices : Masked or Fischers?

Postby lyndor » Tue Oct 23, 2012 3:00 pm

Hello there!

I'm lyndor. Whilst I don't own a bird yet I am seriously considering getting a lovebird as a first parrot! :hatching:

My local pet shop has some hand reared lovebirds - fischers and masked. I was wondering if anyone has come across a difference between the 2?

Many thanks!

hi lyndor,

i researched masked and Fischers, as i was curios my self. i found the information off of a website that talked about the Peach-faced as well, so i apologize for any references to them.
Here is what i found:

Fischers
These lovebirds are said to be more aggressive than a peach-faced. they may bit a bit more skittish than a masked. they are also smaller than the masked.

Masked
they didn't have much on them, and i haven't had time to search other places, but it was pretty clear that they are the most aggressive.

I hope I helped!

If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands.
