Depends on the bird, with my peach fronted conure I have no idea what age he went through it, he sailed through it like nothing had ever happened and we were sure of his age to within a few months.

With my green cheek it was about a year-year and a half old and boy didn't I know it was happening. I thought someone had swapped my parrot for a different one :( I've heard with the medium-larger conures its usually around the 2 year mark but yea it will vary from species to species and bird to bird.

Kiki was a little old for puberty when she came here to live but I do believe that we still managed to catch the last bit of it. She was in love with my Lady for the first month and then she appeared to hate everyone as for the next four months she attacked both of us frequently until she settled on me.

I got Nando, my Flaming Jenday (which I think it's nothing but a real good looking Sunday), when he was 9 months old. I don't usually take in young birds because there are always people willing to adopt them but he was on Craig's listed as a Sun Conure and 'completely unmanageable" or something like that and I emailed the guy to tell him that he was not a Sunnie, we got to talking and I felt bad about the poor bird ("screams all the time, cannot let him out of the cage, he bites, is too destructive, etc. etc") and worried that he would end up in a basement as a breeder so I went to get him. He turned out to be the sweetest, gentlest thing (still is even though he is now mated to Piquito) which just wanted freedom and attention and he never changed, he is still the sweetest thing and he is now 3 1/2 so he's already an adult.
