Recently Edmund has been making this low but loud growling sound. I'm not sure what it is, the vet says hormones or just something he's picked up. He does it over and over to get attention, very rarely does when you're in the room with him and never when he's out the cage.
He has different body positions each time and doesn't seem to do it at a particular time of day or at an object. I've been trying to record it but no luck yet. He was at vets recently and was completely healthy so I'm not extremely panicked.
It's quite funny. It's like he's a grumpy old man! Irritated that we aren't paying him enough attention. He also pews likes a laser gun when he doesn't like something. I'll try get it on video... it's hilarious.
I've never had a cockatiel so I don't know about their growling but my Poi grows at me sometimes out of aggression. However it doesn't sound like that's the case with Edmund. But yeah, some birds can and do growl.
