What do you do to get Coco to whistle and more importantly what do you do to encourage him to learn new tunes?

We whistle it to him again and again until he learns it. If he sais it, he gets his favourite treat. quite simple Lol

Excellent !
If you are not already doing so, may I suggest that you also play a recording of the tune for him and whistle along with that for him.
I would also try to make a recording of the tune, you whistling with the tune, and him whistling the tune, all together. I realize that this would have to be one that you can get him to whistle now, but I really think that it would help out a lot.
Try to watch him to see what new tunes he appears to like as these are the ones that you will have the best success rate with. Also pay attention to the beat of the tunes that he already likes enough to whistle and pick tunes that have a similar beat to them. He has already shown a preference for them.
Beyond that it is all a matter of patience, repetition, patience and when you are getting a little discouraged a little more patience.
And that about covers the entire process. I do hope that this helps you.

If you have a long tune, it might to split it into smaller parts. My daughter taught my bird Corsair a complex tune by splitting it in 3. As Corsair finished one section, my daughter would whistle the next. Now sometimes Corsair starts the whistle (she seems to use it as my daughter's name). However, Corsair sometimes whistles the sections out of order-which drives my daughter crazy, and is probably why Corsair does it. ;)

I have a recipe, so to speak that I use when dealing with teaching parrots anything new, that I will share with you.

The recipe is actually pretty simple; it consists of one part patience, add 2 cups of patience, mix well, to this mixture add a dash of patience and a cup and a half of patience, chill out for 2 hours, season to taste with patience. Serve when needed and begin on the next batch.

Try it out and see if it helps you.
