If Alex wants me to come and get him he will start saying "Comer Buddy step up". Then when I go get him he says Woo-Hoo! He likes to harrass my youngest and will call her name over and over until she comes out and yells What? Then he stops and moves on to something else. He has a sense of humor and is aways doing stuff to get me to laugh. He know's what sounds I am a total sucker for so will do them alot.

I love hearing other peoples stories about what their parrots do.

Jessie says 'Come here' when I'm in another room and he wants to get my attention. When I do finally come over to see him, he stands right in front of his door and dances back and forth to let me know he wants to come out. When I stop to think about it, I can't believe he actually spoke the words to tell me what he wanted. Most of the time he gets what he wants because he's just too damn cute. When it comes to talking, Jessie is a classic Senegal - he really only says hi buddy when someone is in the room. The rest he says when he thinks no one is listening. My favorite moments with him are at our trailer when I'm lying down and the birds are out on the deck. That's when I find out what new words he's picked up.

Lucy doesn't really call me for attention. She just talks up a storm whenever I'm in the room. She's a typical red-bellied and loves an audience.

Buddy has quite a vocabulary, especially for a cockatoo, most of it was developed before I adopted him.

His list (that is decipherable jibberish - all the rest I refer to as alien talk that he learned when he was abducted  )
"night-night"
"come 'ere"
"Hi Buddy!" (In many different voices/tones/emphasis points"
"Hello"
"SHHHHHHHHHHH"
"pretty Buddy"
a spray/mist bottle sound (loves being misted)
a screech like the pellet stove when it was having issues

I know there are more....just can't think of them ;)

My Grey doesn't like to learn human speech but my Hill Mynah loves talking.

I bought a door chime to induce them into talking. The door chime sounds "Ding Dong Hello Welcome".
My grey never bother to learn. When the door chime said Ding Dong, my mynah would say Hello.
When my wife said Hello to my mynah, he said welcome. :D

Hi Mandy,
When I went to buy my very first African Grey after 13 years of researching them and wanting one, I told myself that it didn't matter if she never spoke a word. And, I truly meant that. I would love her regardless of her speech capabilities, or lack there of.

However, Cricket, my African Grey, was already talking at 3 months old when I purchased her(she had a vocab of only 4 words). She just had her 2nd hatch-day on March 31, 2010. She now speaks(as of this minute) 106 words and phrases and sings the song, "Sweet Caroline."

But, we spend a lot of time together and enjoy every minute with each other. She watches baseball games with me and roots for my team. First thing in the morning, she says, "I love you mama," and then proceeds to ask for nummy-nummies and water. Then she'll say, "what's Bibi doing?" Bibi is another African Grey on the internet. She has to hear Bibi every day.
My 6 other birds do not speak but they are all loved and cared for the same. They are my children and they OWN me. LOL
Hugs,
Erica

Cody, my Blue Crown Conure said his first words at 6 1/2 months old. They were "Hi Cody!". Now at 8 months old his verbal ability has exploded. He says:

I'm a good boy.
I'm a VERY good boy. (He really stresses the VERY)
Cody up! (step up command)
I love you.
Cody want a grape or I want a grape.
Grape is good.
Grape is yummy.
Cody want walnut.
Cody flap! (wing flapping command after shower)

He seems to have figured out context and grammar to some extent. I always say "Cody is a good boy". He says "I'm a good boy" He somehow figured out to put "I'm" or "I" in front of a few phrases by himself. That really floors me! He talks about grapes constantly. They are his favorite treat. He is saying some things about them that are not audible or clear yet. I find that he mumbles things to himself before he tries them out for me. The words and phrase become louder and clearer over a period of days as he becomes more confident with their use.

All the parrot books gave me the idea that Blue Crown Conures were not big talkers. I bought him for pet potential and never expected much in the way of talking. I have been totally amazed. He does very little in the way of screaming, squawking or any other parrot sound. He really seems to prefer to use human speech now. He is my first bird and has opened up a new fascinating world for me.

Scooter has an ever-increasing vocabulary and seems to be a very motivated "talker" even though GCCs are not known for that. His speech isn't always clear, but he clearly tries pretty hard. He also has several whistles and a really annoying squeaky-dog-toy sound down pat. Speech was the last thing we were thinking about when we got him, but I have to admit it is pretty fun!

Our gcc isn't much of a talker, besides jibberish, which he is proficient in! but he does say: Treat, please, jake-jake, and a squeaky noise he uses for "thank you".
but our Scarlet has an impressive vocabulary. She's only been with us for 3 months so most of it was learn before coming. Although in the past few weeks she has learned a lot!
She says:
Hello-in about 50 different ways
whatchadoin?
good girl
Scarlet
I love you -still practicing this one
bad girl!
a jake-hammer sound
a siren sound
a fire alarm sound
whistles every kind of whistle you can think of, loves to mess with the neighbor's dog lol
hums/whistles singing in the rain and the theme song to theGolden Girls (we watch it when we go to bed)
step-up
come-up
come on!
good booooooy
jake (name of our gcc)
jake-jake
and just learned to mimic the feral doves outside and the weird meow my cat makes.
She also puts all of these words together in new and funny ways! for a while she would say "good girl jake, step up". she likes to tell herself "come-up, Scarlet good girl!". All of her words she says in "girl" voice and a "man" voice and will alternate the two so it sounds like there are two people talking! Pretty impressive esp for an eclectus!

My budgies don't talk, but my Grey is a great talker. He talks in Turkish, but just two days ago he started saying "good bird" in English. Here's a few things he says most (translated in English) :

Masuk (his name)
Come here boy
My love
Dear dear
Daddy
Mom or mommy
Begum (my name)
What's up?
What?
Hmmm?
Hello!
Here daddy
Whatcha doing daddy (he has a crush on his daddy)
Who's calling?
.. and Good bird!

He vocalizes a dog's woof, a cat's meow, a canary's singing, my dad's laugh, whistles, water flowing..

He learns something new everyday so I can't wait for the new words come out! :swaying:
