Cockatiel (Jazz) Whistling part of song

Postby bmsweb » Tue Jul 20, 2010 2:39 am

Before you get too excited let me say this really isn't much of a video, since he wont whistle while in his cage. If I leave his cage open and leave my Video Camera near it, he will land on my camera and destroy it.

To cut a long story short I managed to get him to whistle only a small part of the Adam's Family with the Click Click. Sorry this is the best I've been able to do so far. The plan is to get him doing the whole song, plus the other 2 songs he knows!

That was cute. You didn't have to preface it with so many apologies, we know how tough it is.

ahaha, I love the "click click" part. very cool  did he pick it up on his own or did you specifically teach him to whistle the song?

Cockatiels are naturally good at whistling. So basically you whistle the tune you want them to learn when they are paying attention. They will pick it up. My son wanted Jazz to learn this one. The hardest part was getting him to do the click click bit. I will get the whole lot from beginning to end on video!

If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands.

Well two years on and he is still playing mind games with me. I am still yet to record him doing this in full. I will be sitting here while he whistles this over and over again and as soon as I try to record it, he changes the song and makes all sorts of mistakes . . He is my little clown :D

If I ever get a full song out of him on video I will post it :)
