Eliminating Undesirable Screaming By Putting it on Cue

Is this method effective at all? If your parrot screams, bites, or does any other undesired behavior and you put it on a cue then never use the cue.

I've heard about that method. It supposedly works for dogs but I am too scared and doubtful to try it with my own birds. I've captured and placed some of their words on cue, but sometimes when they're alone, they'll still talk regardless of whether or not I give the cue. If anyone tries this, please let me know how it goes.
