Strange sounds

Postby Zooey » Sun Mar 04, 2012 5:41 pm

Recently Perry has been making this strange noise. It's like a mix between little garbling, tweeting, and slight squawking. Is this normal?

Does Perry shake his head and dance while doing, because that's what my sister's parrakeet does while listening to music that she likes.

I'm not sure, it's hard to tell by spelling it but does Perry ever stop doing it?

Yes she does. Once I come over to her, she stops. When I go away again, she starts.

Maybe. The only reason it might not be that is that when I do come over, she rushes to get away from me until I start training her. Why is that?

I'm not sure my sister's parrakeet does the same thing if she gets too close, but is happy with her sitting in the same room. I think it is just because she is semi tame, she wants her in the same room just not too close. But I'm no expert.

Hey Zooey!
How long have you had Perry for?
Chibi, my budgie started making noises just like that a couple months back. It sounds just like what you've described: a warbling sort of guttural grumbling mixed in with occasional squawks and such.
I'd say that you might soon have a talking budgie on your hands :)
A couple months of that noise and then my budgie suddenly started talking. One day as I was walking by he suddenly piped up and said: "Hey Chibi!"

I figured the grumbling/warbling noise was him trying to figure out how to form the new noises.
Chibi doesn't ever make that grumbling/warbling noise anymore unless he's trying to figure out a new phrase.
Hopefully this might be the case for Perry as well!
