help requested for Aviator Flight Harness

Postby cperdue » Fri Mar 13, 2015 3:50 pm

I have a GW macaw that is 7 years old. I am able to put his harness on, but he then starts chewing the back (dorsal) part and shreds it. I would be very appreciative of specific ideas to address this problem.

Thanks.

Only use it when your working with him. If he is busy he won't chew. Take it off when you are not actively working with him.

I bought 2 so I will not have to cage Rambo and Myrtle when I take them out. I have not tried them yet but Rambo loves to go bye byes and will probably get right in it.

To be honest the only thing that I know to do is to keep an extra one on hand and to keep the bird busy with other things from the time you put it on him. most birds will do this very thing in the first few months of using a harness because it feels different to them, so you need to distract their attention from it as soon as possible and in time it will not feel so strange to them .
