I think that part of what is being said is that you might try to be more considerate with how you say things, but I could be in error.

I know this is an old thread, but I use two types of Whistle for our dogs.

One is the Acme Gundog Whistle 210.5. Our Springer and the littles are trained to come to this.

I inherited my Dad's Irish Red Setter when he was 4 and he was trained to a Shepherds whistle which I have never managed to master. Logan ignored the Acme Whistle , but I got him going to a Fox 40 whistle which is much louder as he was being selectively deaf when I wanted him to recall.

They are both pealess whistles so number of quick blast can be blown much easier than a whistle with a pea in.
I have never tried a whistle on a parrot it would be an interesting conscept.
You would probably end up with an echo before long.

Oh, Lord, yes! You would have the bird whistling all day long! The microwave beep and the cell phone ring are bad enough without adding a dog whistle to it

I had a bird making the beep beep that smoke/carbon monoxide detectors make when the battery is getting low and it drove my husband to distraction because he had changed all the batteries and couldn't figure out why the one in the birdroom was still doing it   But it was his darned fault for waiting too long to change the batteries in the first place!
