quaker parrot flight?

so my quaker parrots primarys are growing back, and im trying to decide wheather or not to clip. I have been doing some reading about how quakers can get into alot of mischeif and become very mean if their flighted. whats your views on it with quaker parrots? i have also herd that quakers are highly prone to injuring themselves if flighted??

Sounds like standard excuses from the clipping boot camp .

I dont know if quakers are unique, but that parrots can be mean or injure themselvs by flying is something some people claim to be true because they want to justify clipping.

If I were you I would read up on both sides, and make your own decision backed by knowledge.

thanks for the replies guys! also, I work at a pet shop and my co workers love having pluto around! whats your experiences with flight suits and harnesses? do you thing 8 hours with a flight suit or harness on is too much?

I would say 8 hours is way too long, they are designed for short periods of time, the longer they are on the more likely the bird will chew through it and escape.

Flight suits are a good idea. It take 30 minutes to get them on and 30 seconds for the bird to get out of them. Just carry tissues.

im sorry i guess i meant the flight harnesses. my coworkers and i dont mind a little bird poop. and if they do they throw a towel over their shoulder. so 8 hours is way too long for a flight harness?

If you like bringing him to the store, why not put a cage there as well =)? Then you can have him out flying when its approriate, and when not you can cage him?

If quakers weren't supposed to be able to fly, they wouldn't have wings. I'm not sure how I could deprive my bird from the thrill of flight, and also the exercise. These excuses for clipping are really lame, if you don't want your parrot to fly don't get a parrot.

If you have decided to let your bird fly, well done, you made the right choice
