Here In Plymouth, England bird wouldn't fly for long. Seagulls and Pigeons would kill it instantly! :o

I saw a hawk this morning. It landed on a tree above a paved path I was walking along on. From pictures on the internet, I believe it was a cooper's hawk.

It made me wish I had a camera on me.

This is something that has bothered me about eventually free flighting a bird... Whilst I do not think seagulls or pigeons are a threat, I do realise there are hawks and falcons around that could quite easily pluck your bird away.

From what I can tell, most of you guys are from Canada and America, yes??
I think I've seen about 3 birds of prey in my life. Ever. And we have plenty of natives parrots and lorries and such around. The closest I've seen to a bird of prey I've seen around would be a crow or something.

wow after reading the post in here about predator bird, i feel so lucky to live in a country with NO prey birds.

i dont even want to think about losing my bird outside. i have screens on my windows than lock and i never open them.

as i rent out a room at my parent house while im studying i have a lock on the inside that i can lock so one of my sisters dont come in and my bird getting out.

we have seagulls and pigeons but they never attack other birds and kill them. there is to much public feeding for them to harm other birds. we dont have hawks or anything like that. seagulls and pigeons arent classed as prey birds in new zealand im about 90% sure
