Preparing clipped baby for flight

Postby Hookturn » Sat Oct 04, 2014 3:08 pm

I have a 5 mo old Jenday (JJ) who was unfortunately clipped when I got him. I plan on letting his feathers grow back. I Know the process will likely take several months. But I'm wondering if there are things I can or should be doing in the interim to make his transition, and mine, easier?

At the moment I am not doing any training at all as he is so young. However, he steps up like a champ and has a great temperament. Thanks for any advice!

The only thing that come to mind are wing exercises which is you moving across a room or down a hallway fast enough to get your bird to flap its wings to build muscle before it primaries grow back.
