Grab and Drop

Postby nightjars » Fri Aug 23, 2013 1:44 pm

Hi All,

My wife and I seem to have made a mistake with our :senegal: ... He was taught to drop on cue, which he does very well. The problem is I am trying to teach him to grab, but he always thinks that when I want him to grab that I actually want him to pick up and drop whatever it is that he is holding. I've completely stopped asking him to drop things over the last 2-3 weeks in hopes that I can teach him to grab things and keep them in his beak, but no luck.. He still thinks I want him to drop. We've gone on to just teach other behaviors that have nothing to do with picking up or dropping, which he is doing great at, but at some point, I would like to re-visit these behaviors..

Any thoughts on how I can deprogram his thought that I am trying to get him to drop everything?
