Please take into consideration that the bird jumping on the video is a macaw which, same as cockatoos, jump naturally (mine would use hops instead of actual walking when they want to get somewhere in a hurry and don't want to fly -Freddie actually tells himself to "Come on, come on, come on" in the same rhythm as he jumps -LOL) and that the girl is actually playing with the Hy and not just teaching the bird an useless trick. I've never seen a cockatiel jump and I've had a flock of almost 40 of them so I would think jumping is not something that comes naturally to them or even something they enjoy which, in my mind, pretty much nixes this as a useful interaction with them.

Pajarita is right - jumping like that isn't so natural to cockatiels. It all depends on whether or not your cockatiel finds jumping a rewarding behaviour in the first place. Personally, I've never see one jump! They're not big dancers either compared to larger birds.

Don't worry though, the number of other tricks and variations out there are limitless!

It would be good interaction if you can do it. A cockatiel is so little he may be afraid of hands moving that fast near him.

Amy, my first cockatiel, would dance when her Bubba would sing.
Lola is my only dancer now. She dances when any of the boys sing.
My boys also sing duets.
No jumpers.
