Do you buy your trick props? Do you make any of them?

My friend Tani would go to garage sales and look for props. She found the coolest toilet that flushes at Bed Bath and Beyond.

I bought a lot of my props at a bird fair years ago from a vendor called "Cheap tricks". These props are pretty cheap but they work.

I inherited a lot of Tani's props when I got Kiri. The skates are my favorite. Kiri is the cutest skater. She also has a small shopping cart (I have no idea where that was found) and small cans that she stacks on a shelf.

Tani used to modify a lot of things to make the props work. You have to have a lot of vision and patience. Tani really enjoyed finding and making the props.

I built my own slide because I wanted to customize the size and incline toward my birds:

Most pet shops sell some basic toys and on occasion you can stumble upon quite special ones - that's how I got some of them. I have also crafted some, for example the rings on peg props are a self-made peg made of a twig from a tree from my backyard and some wooden curtain rings.

But you may find items at quite unexpected places - one day I was walking about in a toy store with my kids to find something for them, and what I ended up with was a nice big hoop that I am now training Crackie to fly through.

Garage sales and flea markets sure are a treasure trove. You want to minimize your expenses on things that are likely to be chewed and ruined in a matter of weeks or even days...

I got a skate board on sale on a website ($10 versus $25) figuring that Joey might like it..
Right now, I have on display somewhere so they (all birds) get used to seeing it.
