Self-taught trick

Postby Pajarita » Tue Sep 03, 2019 9:18 am

Wild cockatoos have figured out how to open trash bins in another example of animal behavioral adaptation. But, in truth, this is something that, in my personal experience, ALL cockatoos love - meaning the trash can with 'goodies' inside that they can, one by one, pick and throw to the floor even if the goodies are just crumpled up paper sheets, half-chewed pieces of wood or baby toys

I have to pull the kitchen trash bag closed to keep Myrtle from trash picking. She not only should not be eating from there but she does make a mess throwing things around that are not interesting to her. A lid on the trash bin did not work. She just flipped it open.

Rainbow/Rambo stands under the trash bin to pick through what she is throwing down.
