Do smarts = behavioral plasticity?

This is not about any learned trick or even what makes them learn but more about their ability to adapt, innovate, change their behaviors (this is the behavioral 'plasticity' part) which does go back to their smarts. The study shows that species with high behavioral plasticity are much less vulnerable to extinction and we already know of species that did it and continue to do it (namely, the species that have adapted to new environments and diets, managing thus to become naturalized, like quakers, IRN's, budgies, lories, etc.) but could all parrots do it so they could survive global warming? The study also says that the species with longer generation times are more susceptible so the larger species might not... What do you think?
