OK, here is my one week update.
Stanley :sun: has progressed marvelously. He puts the ball in the cup every time. I started with a golf ball sized wiffle ball and a 2 or 3 inch stainless steel feed bowl. Once he got that it has been a breeze. He is now dropping quarters into shot glasses. I am on my way to teaching him to put coins in a piggy back (thanks to Michaels 20 parrot tricks in 2 minutes video). He will walk all the way from one end of the perch to get the object and then all the way back to put it in the cup. He completes this task 90% to 95% successfully, such a smart little guy.

Ollie the GCC :gcc: however, still randomly tosses the ball. It has been a real test getting him to understand. I think I started making some headway yesterday, but I will see in the morning. Hopefully, once he gets it he progresses as rapidly as Stan did.

It is wierd, because this is the first trick that Stan picked up on before Ollie, and boy is there some real disparity in how fast they make it happen compared to the other tricks. It would take Stan 2 to 3 days longer to get it. Ollie is now about 4 days behind and not making up much distance, hopefully he kicks in the turbo soon!!

Tried teaching "fetch" to my GCC. He got it in 10 tries. Tried teaching the same thing to my Sun. She wouldn't even get close to the bottle cap to pick it up. Heh.

Sounds like we have exact opposite situations. I know my little GCC has the brains, I just need that AHA moment to occur!!

Yeah, Ollie more or less does it, but nowhere near as good as Stan. I am going to start a new thread about the next trick. Thanks for asking about my progress.

I don't know if you've already tried this yet or not, but have Ollie watch Stan do the trick -- a real simple version first (not the whole spiel of walking to the other end of the perch, getting the object and walking back to put it in the cup). Some birds learn things better if they can watch another bird performing a trick correctly.
