although many people potty train their parrots i dont really like this. You have to doit very very carefuly because if you teach it wrongly, or if your bird gets it wrongly, the bird will be holding the poop until he is on the right place or he hears the cue, and it is aHORRIBLE for the bird's health, it could do a lot of bad thing to him :/ so be careful with this..

You should read the article Michael posted a link to. He doesn't really use a cue and there is no food reward for pooping in the right spot. The way he explains how to potty train, they don't really feel a need to "hold it" for a reward.

Basically, it's just about knowing when your bird will poop and putting him in an appropriate place (like their cage or a perch with newspaper under it) before he poops on you. Eventually, because of repetition, they learn that's where they should do their business. If they are flighted, you can cue them to fly to that place before they poop or they fly there on their own when they have to "go".
