Wow very lucky! I'm so happy to hear that. I'm sure he'll perk up in a while.

Awe! Thanks guys! The little guy is feeling a lot better today... my chewed finges are proof of that >_< He does seem a little grumpy but I'm not really blaming him by this point. But he's doing a lot better, and he doesn't seem to have any real ill effects apart from his demenour.

So... Yippee! lol

You are really lucky that you were reunited with your parrot safely. Now it is essential to ensure that this can never happen again. Most people's first reaction after dealing with something like this is to run and get the wings clipped, but clearly this case has shown that it has nothing to do with whether the wings are clipped or not. Instead it is all about the human household taking the proper precautions regardless if the parrot is clipped or flighted.

I hope this scenario will remind you and others that it's not clipping wings that keeps parrots safe but the way we operate our households and the safety measures we put in place. I sincerely hope that everyone reading this that clips their parrot's wings thinks about all of this and realizes that they have to take all of the same precautions that owners of flighted parrots do. Only question that remains is if you go through all those efforts, why bother clipping at all?

Thank you Micheal ^_^

I've checked out the links you gave me, and they were very helpful. My first reaction after I got him back, was to soldeer all the windows shut and nail the doors closed. But my parents wouldn't let me -_-. So instead I keep him in my room now where I can keep an eye on him, and I'm thinking of getting him a aviator suit just so he can enjoy the outdoors again sometime. :)

But thanks. I really appreciate all the advice and will certainly take it to heart. I never want a repeat of that nightmare again >_<

I just saw this thread and I must say I was actually nervous, reading every post hoping you would say you got him back. Poor birdie. Poor you! I'm so glad everything worked out okay.

Mt tiel was clipped when I brought him home as a baby, but he still managed to slip away from me and out a barely open window. I ran outside in pajamas and bare feet...I could see him flitting from branch to branch and he was crying out so I was able to maintain a sense of where he was even when I lost visual contact. After scrambling through the neighbor's shrubs and over her fence, I was lucky...he was so scared and worn out from his ordeal that he finally just landed on the ground and waited for me. It was a horrible ten minutes. I know how you must have felt. So relieved that your story had a happy ending!
