Ear Chewing?

Postby socal_sarah » Thu Mar 07, 2013 10:17 pm

Does anyone else's parrot like to chew on their ear(s)? Cracker has decided that my fiance, Toby's ears taste delicious & will nibble on them for quite awhile. I've never seen that before and just want to make sure that's ok. Below is the link to a 30 second video illustrating exactly what I'm talking about...

Yes, my own sennie does this. It's just a form of preening, methinks. Does Cracker play with your hair, too? Our Tiki is usually gentle about her nibbling of our ear lobes but there have been times that she has bitten down a bit too hard, lol

Our cockatiel does it... a lot. He thinks its a toy! He also preens my husband's facial hair... or at least tries. He also plucks it to show his dissatisfaction at not getting enough scratches.....

Fritz, my Jardine's loves to nibble on my ears. Just has to be reminded every once in a while, that they are not nuts, and do not want to be pierced by his beak! He also loves to play with my hair (usually before bed, when he sits on my head, preening me and what I assume is getting me ready for bed :P)

My New 6 month old CAG does this and it drives me absolutely mad! Ofcourse his chewing is not limited to just ears and he does not knoew his beak strength yet so we are working on being gentle.
