parrot biting clothes when on shoulder

My very sweet moustached parakeet does not bite fingers or hands at all ever. But, he has gotten terrible about biting your clothes when you put him on your shoulder. He is ruining so many things plus occasionally catches skin in a very painful way, so we don't let him ride on our shoulders anymore, but it's his favorite thing so this is making all of us sad. Any ideas on how to stop this behavior?

Unfortunately some birds can't have shoulder privileges due to their behavior and this may be the case with your bird.

You could try wearing a plastic "bird necklace" and encourage him to chew that instead of your clothing or skin.

You could also wear a "shoulder cape" for the same reason.

whatout if you encorage the bird to stay on your arm bellow your elbow with food or something like wood to chew?
