Help! Just brought home an African Grey Timneh

Postby Mrbill317 » Tue Apr 16, 2013 7:04 am

So ... after making the trip from her old house to mine we are starting to settle in.

Last night was a bit troubling. Diamond either got spooked or fell off her perch around 4:30am.
I scooped her up and gave her cuddles for a few minutes.
She didnt get hurt but was obviously shaken.

FYI , she is 10 years old

When I first got her in the cage she did have a sip of water and a small piece of banana and later a peanut.
I dont think she has eaten anything yet today.

Our house is alot bigger then where she came from so it must be information overload.

She stepped up to me this morning and I gave her a soft hug.

:gray:

Any tips?

Update: Wife bought her some fresh Papaya which she took some chomps of. Wife also noticed her eating some seed/pellet mix.

I feel a little better.

That's good to hear! Try not to worry though, it's very very early days for Diamond. It may take her weeks or months to really settle in though it sounds like you're taking really good care of her and she'll be fine. Looking forward to hearing how she gets on in the next days & weeks, and pics would be great!

Yea I agree shes just settling in, its all new to her atm.
Do get her a vet check in a few days so the vet knows whats normal for her and treat anything early if tests do show something.
Keep us updated on her progress.
