What does this mean?

Sorry for being oblivious, but sometimes, my lovebird will start screaming, pacing back and forth while flapping and shaking her head violently. Is this a sign of aggression or frustration?

Hmm when Emmi does that, it means she wants out of her cage. I am not sure if it's the same for love birds?

Both our tiels do this as displays but again not a lovebird.... Try and observe when this happens and see if you can pin down any specific things that happen around her doing this... you may well find your answer there.

For example we notice Edmund does it when I sit next to the cage and it's about 6pm...

Yup! Edmund is like COME GET ME! lol

Emmi bobs her head with so much excitement sometimes, she falls flat on her face lol if you don't HURRY UP NOW she will start screaming. Which she is learning...will get her cage door open slower as I wait for quiet lol

Melody paces on her rope perch quickly and expells these little churp/grunts when ever she sees me in the morning or after work. She also will often jump and grasp onto the side of the cage and sticks her head and beak up against the bars so someone will scratch her. This usually means that she wants out of the cage and onto me right away! My parakeets and, on occasion, my cockatiel does this once in a while.

Hm, it's definitely not the same as when she paces in her cage to be let out. I noticed it usually happens when she sees one of my dogs, but when I place them near eachother, Daisy usually doesn't do much except observe them closely. But maybe it's her being territorial?

Ooooh THAT kind of pacing! Yes, territory protecting! My mother's bird did that to one of her dogs all the time. The bird was fine with the other two dogs, but not the quietest, sweetest, oldest dog. Lol poor thing. Scared the dog to death! We had to move the food and water bowls to a different part of the house.

Aah, I see my hunch was correct! And sorry to hear about your poor dog!

When you bring the dogs close..maybe she knows you are there to control them or they are just not on the move. But a dog just walking around on its own? Oh man...that dog could do anything as far as she's concerned! Steal her favorite toy? Eat her food? Who knows lol

Oh THAT pacing! Yes Edmund does that. We call it his strutting manuever... he really picks up his feet and puffs out his chest and makes lots of loud screeches while striding up and down the perch. He mainly does this when other birds are in the garden patio. :-)

George joins in with this by jumping up and down going eeek eekkk eeekk eeekkk nyyyyaahahahaha eeek eeek eek. Like a battle cry.
