Wierd behaviour

Postby davo84 » Sun Jun 23, 2013 6:32 am

Hi all,

Our Skyler started behaving in a weird way, leaning forward and sort of raising his "shoulders".
Here is a video of him,

Does anybody know what he is trying to tell us? :irn:

Any help highly appreciated!

He's doing a very mild version of the nicey-nicey (wing fluttering like a baby does) because he wants to come out of his cage.

Mhhh very interesting, it could be indeed as Skyler doesn't want to go back to his cage most of the time.

However he does that when is out on his cage too, which leaves me a bit confused :/

Looks like a mild display of mating behavior. But I'm not sure.

Usually, at least with Sennies, the wings droop with mating dances... it looks like Skyler is trying to stretch his wings? Or thinking about flying, out of the cage, perhaps?

When he does it outside his cage, is he on a stand or does he do it while he is on you? Because if he does it NOT perching on you, that's what he is asking for :-)

Interesting replies, but I am still a bit confused, perhaps I should give some more context:

Skyler is roughly 1 year old, he wasn't tame at all we are slowly going through a taming process.
He steps onto our hands or arms if we have a seed to offer him, he doesn't otherwise and he is still very wary of us. He doesn't like to go back to his cage and some time he gets really annoyed at us if we force him (via food or other means).

Also although I am referring to him as a he, he might also be a she, we are not sure yet, he is also going through molt I think.

So the most likely cases are that:
- He is trying to impress/socialize with us
- He wants to get out of the cage.

Nothing I should worry about then?
