I use 2 full spectrum fluorescent tubes (CRI higher than 94 and Ktemp as close to 5500 as possible but never higher) in a shop light fixture in the ceiling and a single tube fixture next to it with UVA and UVB output. I don't use lamps, they are dangerously close to their eyes and I know of two birds that went blind because of them.

Thanks so much for the feedback. That's so alarming about the lights and blindness. :(

Happy update today: I have concluded that my bird's new standoffishness is definitely due to hormonal changes. But today she let me pick her up and scritch her head for the first time in AGES! It made me happier than I can say. Now I'm just going to do everything I can to make her fully comfortable during these fluctuations. I wish I wasn't such an egghead and I had determined this earlier. I feel like I have my pet back. Her needs have just changed, is all. :senegal:

There are no fluctuations - unless you consider annual seasons fluctuations. They get a bit hormonal in the spring but this goes away around July.

Well, unfortunately for some reason she seems to be hormonal now.

Don't give up on him. Parrots are like kids in a way. They get mad at their parents because they don't understand that what they do is the best for them. He will come around and forgive you soon, don't even worry. Good luck!
