Postby mikegordon » Wed Sep 11, 2013 5:56 pm

my african grey "garcia" was just reunited w/me today after 6 years. she remembers me, no problem. however, where she was housed she was in a bedroom by herself and has not been paid attention to. thus feather picking. i presented her with her favorite treats and fruits and she will not eat. i have not seen her take in water either. what to do??? help asap

Take your to the vet. She should be examined thoroughly after what she's been through.

Take her to an avian vet to get a checkup. If she was mistreated then she may have other problems other than the feather picking.

She is just depressed from the years of being mistreated, but she will get over it eventually and will be just like she used to be. All of her feathers will be back in a couple months. Keep working with her and she will be happy again in no time!

Good luck!
