Heating/Drying lamp

Postby MilesBird » Tue Oct 15, 2013 10:04 am

The winter is coming and fall is here. The temperatures outside are dropping and my house a tab bit colder than during the summer. The question is that during the summer after a bath i would take miles :irn: out in the warm sun to dry off. Lately it has been to cold/windy to do this and he just sits inside and shivers for an hour or two while he dries. I dont want him to be cold so i was wondering if anyone uses a heating lamp to dry off or just warm up their birds during the winter, and if so where is a good place to get one(i live in the US)?

I don't use heat lamps for anything. Whenever I need heat I use a heating pad on the bottom of the cage and cover all sides of the cage but the front which is exposed to light. It heats up the entire cage evenly (heat rises) and it presents no danger whatsoever to their eyes. But this is only for sick birds, I don't do anything for baths, I just keep their room warm (68 - 70 degrees) all the time - but I would assume that you can use the heating pad the same way for a wet bird if the room where he is kept during the winter is too chilly.
