Please Help!

Postby Everett » Tue Dec 10, 2013 3:32 pm

I posted in the introductions the other day that I inherited two older birds from a friend. I have tried to do the best by the birds but I'm afraid I'm at my wits end! I work from home, and the only available space for the birds is in my office, some days its good, but some days they drive me batty. The amazon will scream and the macaw will squack and I can't concentrate.

Where/how can a person find a good home for two birds that need some attention? I don't think I can do this. I need quiet to think, and at this time have a tight deadline. I'm stressed to say the least.

find a good rescue. make sure they are not flippers there are people who pose as rescues to get free birds to sell. where are you located? I or someone else on here might be able to refer you to a rescue.

I've already sent some info particular to Everett's situation, as he'd PM'd me (we're both in Colorado) but here are a couple websites for those looking for foster help in general:

Who to Contact For Help -- Advice from the Avian Welfare Coalition: http://www.avianwelfare.org/links/organizations.htm

List of Bird Rescue, Adoption & Sanctuary Organizations: http://www.maars.org/resources/links/linksadoption.php (NOTE: not all links in this list are current.)

In Colorado, you have The Gabriel Foundation. I don't particularly like this rescue but it's adequate. If you can manage the trip, I would heartily recommend Best Friends in Utah.
