Moving across the country

Postby MilesBird » Mon Dec 23, 2013 8:43 am

This Friday i am moving from Indiana to Idaho with my blue :irn: via car. This is my first time doing a move like this with my feathered friend and i wanted any advise that the forum members here can give me to make his trip easier and more comfortable.

- He has a warm travel cage cover to get him from the car to inside and back.
- I had a vet appointment last week to verify health and get a travel certificate for my bird.
- I looked a head and got pet friendly hotels or am staying with family members.
- made sure i had enough food to get him through the trip.

I suggest you start putting him in the travel cage at night for sleeping so he can start getting used to it. Also, stock up on juicy fruits like oranges, cantaloupe, etc because you can't put a lot of water in a travelling cage and the fruit will provide him with enough moisture so he won't go thirsty.
