Chance is a drill sergeant

Postby GreenWing » Wed Jan 29, 2014 3:15 pm

She shouts at me every morning (my bed is near her cage) to "HEY! STEP UP! STEP UPPPPP!" "COME HERE! STEP UP!"

I am up now and she's still staying it. I got up and offered my arm and she made a threatening action to bite to get me away. Okay, so she's trolling me?

Right now she is saying, "Stop! Aaaah! Step up! Hey! Stop! No!" Finally she did step up and quieted down but was demanding and was hesitant.

Is she just being vocal or what? Man, she is bossy.

LOL - the "No, Stop" was learned when she bit her previous owner (she must have done the same thing to them she did to you). My TAG, Pookey, came from NYC Animal Control because she was found in the street and nobody claimed her, and people always say: "Ohhhh, poor thing, she must have gotten lost" but I always say that, most likely, somebody opened a window and threw her out because she would do the same thing, she would ask "prettypleaseprettyplease" and, when you put your hand there for her to step up, she would bite HARD and immediately say, in an angry man's voice: "F*CK YOU!" -LOL But she is fine now, doesn't say bad words any longer and is sweet as sweet can be. As a matter of fact, she is the only parrot my husband likes and trusts (she loves him with a passion and every single time I open the birdroom door, she comes out and flies down to the first floor looking for him and, if she finds him, he has to stop whatever he is doing to bring her back because she would NOT come with me and would bite me if I ask her to step up while she is on his shoulder).

Lol, thanks, yes, most of her vocals she learned in her previous homes. Her vocabulary is indeed massive. She has learned new words from me, though, such as her nickname. As far as I know she was in two previous homes before me. Her second was not for long. I know she was loved because she says "I love you"; "love you"; and "love you, girl" and she did step up for me after yelling at me for a while. :D

She just loves to tell me what to do. She thinks she is a BOSS. :D I need to record it. Her tone is very demanding. It is hilarious but not so early in the morning. I say, Chance, let me sleep a little more. And she yells "No!" and then says "Please? Be nice."

She doesn't practice what she preaches, lol

Today she's been awful! She keeps demanding me to "HEY! STEP UP! WHAT THE HELL! NO! STOP!" It is hilarious how well she speaks and I don't laugh to encourage it, but she is trolling me -- she refuses to step up despite constantly demanding it. And if I offer my hand she threatens to bite. This has been going on the last two days in particular. She's strutting on top of her cage right now making these demands. She won't even eat while I am eating now, and she always eats while I eat. She ate this morning for a while so maybe she's not hungry and would prefer to act like the BOSS.

She knows what "step up" means. Is she just yelling at me just because or is there something else going on?

Things have been MUCH better today. No waking up to a drill sergeant, lol. She actually let me sleep in and then shared breakfast with me!

Looking back, I spent a lot of time with her yesterday after being out for a couple of days. I took her into the bed with me and played my Wii as she chewed some toys while sitting on me. I think she liked that, but she did try to get the Wii controllers a few times, lol.

Maybe she was "punishing" me for being out and about? Tiki would punish me for things as well, just in a different way, so it wouldn't surprise me if this were the case with Chance.
