Did your parrot "name" you?

Postby GreenWing » Tue Feb 11, 2014 3:01 pm

Does your parrot have a name for you? Does he/she call you by your first name, or invented a name for you?

It's hilarious, but Chance calls me "Chang." I have no idea why she calls me Chang. Maybe she is trying to say "Chance" but she says "Chance" clearly, so I'm not sure that is it. She also calls me "Mew" but more directly calls me Chang... just a few minutes ago she said, "Hey, Chang, step up!"

:?

No. I have found that, normally, the name they use is their own, just like the birds in the wild would 'announce' themselves by their own name. Mostly I get HIIIIIII! and HELLOOOOO!

Okay, that's interesting because maybe she is trying to say "Chance" but it comes out as "Chang" sometimes. She says "Chance" very clearly, so who really knows, lol

best I've ever had out of any of mine is "Hi, hello, ello, Hello, helloooooo, HELLOOOOOOOO" in a variety of different tones, voices and volume. George (peach fronted conure) used to sound quite deranged at times the way he twisted his voice- I never knew there were so many ways to say hello.

Emmi calls everyone Emmi. But she calls my husband, "Pretty Bird" from the time she hears his truck pull up to the time he finally sits down with her.

But I get lots of greetings.

Hey baby!
Hi bird!
I love you!
Are you ready?
Take a bath!

Depending on what she wants to do when I walk in the room or door. But my husband is just, "Pretty Bird." Lol
