Help! My bird is currently bleeding!

Postby JaydeParrot » Fri Feb 14, 2014 3:32 pm

My sennie fell off my shoulder and crashed into a plastic box, I opened his wing and there was blood around the new blood feather, I don't know what to do, do I need to sterelize the wound and with what I have iodine, vinegar and salt but that's it, he seems fine so I don't know whether he's had the wound since earlier.

I know some people same remove the feather but that seems extereme, i just want to makesure that he doesn't get an infection, please! What do I do?

do you have any flour? its not ideal but if you put it on the bleeding area then it will help the blood clot. removing the feather shouldn't be necessary. if it won't stop bleeding you will have to get an emergency vets appointment.

Potato flour works very good as well.

Hope everything goes alright!

Thanks for the replies, his feather doesn't seem to be bleeding anymore, I've phoned a better vet who told me that since the feather's no longer bleeding, I should just put him in his cage and wait till the morning.

Hoping he'll be looking better tomorrow, thanks again for the quick replies, :).
