In Season: Indian Ring Neck

Postby shonie777 » Wed Feb 26, 2014 4:01 pm

My female Indian Ring Neck is in season. I have a male and a female and for the first time I saw them do their ritual.... :?

I was on my computer last night and their cage sits a little behind me on my left side.... I suddenly heard noises that I never heard them make before....I turned and low and behold...

I was wondering why the paper on the bottom of the cage was getting tore up and placed on the shelf thing in their cage. I guess she's trying to make a nest?

I don't want any babies :hatching: because I just don't want to deal with it. Aside from getting another cage to separate them (if that is even the right thing to do), what else can I do? Just let them do their thing and toss the eggs when they come or what?

I've never had to deal with this before and don't really know what to do. I knew they were a male a female when I adopted them and knew I'd have to deal with this sooner or later.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

if they lay eggs you have a couple of options, either replace them with dummy eggs or boil the eggs and put them back in the nest. if you remove the eggs the chances are she will keep laying them until the end of the breeding season which won't do her any good and may risk her life as her body becomes depleted of nutrients. just let her sit on the dummy or boiled eggs until she gets bored.

Ok I'll keep that in mind when and if the eggs come.

Thank you.
