Sorry, Aphios, but I disagree. Some species of conures (sun, jendays, quakers) screech just to hear themselves screech. My birds don't live in cages, they have bird companions, they are kept at a strict natural daylight schedule so they are never 'hormonal', they get fresh food, good light, etc so one would think the conures would not need to scream but they do. Not all the time and not too much but, in truth, the only screeches you hear out of the birdroom during the day it's from them and nobody else.
As to senegals been quiet, Jaydeparrot, I had one that was given up because the lady who owned her was afraid of getting evicted because of her constant screams... but, I have to say that she never did scream with me after the first two weeks. I don't know what it was with the lady (and she loved that bird and took very good care of her) but she screamed all day long when she was with her and I know because after she had been with me for almost two years, the lady (who had kept in touch and came to visit her all the time) moved to a house and wanted her back so I agreed as long as she also took her mate (which she had bonded with in my house), which she did. 48 hours later, the woman calls me and tells me she is bringing the birds back because she had not stop screaming since the minute she got there...
